Day 1    BANGKOK

Arrive Bangkok and transfer to Peninsula Hotel. Rest of day is at leisure.

Days two and three are yours to explore this vibrant city. You may wish to take one of the optional tours that will be available, or you can strike out on your own. You might consider a trip to the famous Floating Market or an excursion to the Royal Palace grounds and the spectacular Wat Phra Keo with it’s Emerald Buddha. Exploration or relaxation – whatever your heart desires. Lunch and dinner each day are on your own.

Day at leisure.

Transfer to the train station and embark the Eastern & Oriental Express this morning. Brunch is served as the train departs Bangkok. In the early afternoon al stop is made for a visit to the infamous Bridge on the River Kwai. Following this, board a traditional large floating barge for a peaceful river excursion and visit to the Chung Kai cemetery honoring WWII soldiers. Reboard the train in the late afternoon and enjoy an outstanding meal while your steward converts your private compartment into a cosy bedroom.

Breakfast is served in the comfort of your compartment. Upon arrival in Butterworth you will take a local ferry to Georgetown, Penang where trishaws await to take you through some of the town’s narrow streets, passing colorful markets on your way. Return to the train and dine in one of the opulent dining cars.

Following breakfast, relax in your compartment or one of the lounge cars as the train crosses the Straits of Johor on its way into Singapore. Disembark and transfer to Silver Cloud to begin your cruise.
