Soak up native culture, gold rush history, and local color on a cruise of the storied Chena and Tanana Rivers . You'll learn about the Alaskan lifestyle as you visit a replicated Athabascan native village and view native crafts, a fishwheel in action and a dogsled demonstration. You'll watch a bush pilot demonstration and meet Susan Butcher of Iditarod fame, or members of her family, at her sled dog kennel. At Gold Dredge No. 8, a National Historic Site, you'll browse the mining exhibits and pan for gold during your informative tour. Tonight, explore under the Midnight Sun on a choice of optional dinner tours. You can wander through Pioneer Park and enjoy an authentic Alaska Salmon Bake. This afternoon, prepare for astounding scenery on your Natural History Tour of Denali National Park . Traveling 19 miles along the Park Road , you'll learn about this unspoiled ecosystem - one of the earth's last great wildernesses. Watch for wildlife in the taiga forest along braided streams and on the vast expanse of the sub-arctic tundra. Return to the lodge and relive your adventure over drinks and dinner at the Nenana View Bar and Grille or at the Courtyard Café. Then enjoy a great night's sleep surrounded by the wilderness dominated by towering Mt. Healy . |

Wake up to views of Mt. Healy and the Nenana River . Take the morning to enjoy an espresso by the fire in the Great Room. Browse the wildlife exhibits and shops. Take a stroll along the river-view trail, and tour the nearby Denali Visitor Center . Then re-board the McKinley Explorer for lunch and dinner (optional) during the train ride past beaver dams; ponds where trumpeter swans glide across the water and eagles perch high in the trees. You'll arrive in Anchorage this evening and check into your downtown hotel, for a restful night in the heart of the city where wilderness surrounds on every side. |

Step aboard a luxury motor coach for the breathtaking drive along the Seward Highway , an Alaska Scenic Byway. Watch for nesting birds in Potter's Marsh and Beluga Whales along Turnagain Arm as you leave Anchorage behind. Then wander through the Chugach and Kenai Mountains on your way to Seward on the shores of Resurrection Bay .
