If I m traveling alone, how will I meet people?

It couldn t be easier to meet people on board your ship. Not only are you cordially invited to a welcome cocktail party for all our guests, you might also want to consider joining a larger table for dinner in order to get to know more of your fellow voyagers. On- board activities like classes and quizzes are a great way to make new friends. If you re travelling alone don t forget that, unlike most other ships, both Caronia and QE2 offer lots of staterooms for single travellers. And for ladies travelling alone, there are gentlemen hosts on board to accompany you, so you can always enjoy a waltz or rumba. How will I get my bearings on board? A ship is no different to any other resort you may not be familiar with. But to help you get your bearings on board, there s a ship s plan in your stateroom, plus further plans showing you where you are at convenient locations throughout the ship. If you do get lost, a member of the crew will be only too happy to help! If you are eligible to enrol in our Newcomers Programme, there will be a representative on board dedicated to help you find your way around. How much luggage can I bring? There are no restrictions on how much luggage you can take aboard ship, but do remember that if your cruise holiday involves a flight, airlines have their own baggage allowance restrictions. These vary on scheduled flights, depending on airline and route. Please note that on UK regional flights the baggage allowance may be less than on international flights. Which outfits should I pack? Because your relaxation is our priority, you ll probably find yourself most comfortable during the day in casual wear or swimwear and sandals around the pool. Although shorts and swimsuits may not be worn in any ship s restaurant or dining room, casual attire is welcome at any time in the Lido Caf . Evening attire for formal evenings will be specified as follows: Formal: Tuxedo (alternatively a dark suit ) for men. Evening gown or other formal attire for women. Informal: Jacket and tie for men. Cocktail dress, dressy pantsuit, or similar for women. Casual: For men, slacks and a sweater or shirt. For women, skirt or slacks with a sweater or blouse.   What about shore attire? You ll need to pack a range of summer or warmer clothes, depending on your itinerary. Remember, too, to respect the cultural dress norms of your hosts when visiting shrines, temples and churches. A lightweight raincoat and collapsible umbrella never go amiss! Finally, a pair of comfortable walking shoes (plus a spare pair of glasses)will always stand you in good stead. Do I have to dress for dinner every evening? One of the joys of cruising with Cunard is the glamour of evenings at sea. In keeping with the high standards of elegance aboard, it is suggested that you dress for dinner as you would for a fine restaurant. It means there is just the one sitting for dinner, and guests can choose to dine anytime between 7 and 9pm. What about beauty treatments and hairdressing? To make sure you feel tip-top at all times, our ships have salons where you can have your hair done for that special dinner occasion, or enjoy a wide range of beauty treatments, including manicures and pedicures.
